Vintage Handmade Indian Wedding Textile
This vintage fabric is a heavily embroidered tribal Indian textile that can be used as a bedspread or wall hanging for your bohemian home.
Wedding canopies in the Gujarat region of India are traditionally embroidered by the bride's family leading up to her wedding day. They can be hung on the wall as display, spread over a bed or sofa to add color and whimsy, or used to reupholster something that needs new life!
These are vintage and antique pieces and may have stains, irregular sewing, and even some areas where the embroidery was never finished. It is not recommended to wash them as the colors will run.
This one has all of the characters emanating outward from the center, with a ring of folk dancers and Krishna, Ganesha and other gods appearing on the perimeter along with plenty of peacocks. This one doesn't hang exactly flat and may be better suited for a sofa or bed cover. My favorite part of this one are the Victrolas, which gives you an indication of how old it is.
